Blood Moon Eclipse
The first lunar eclipse of 2022 will take place on May 15 and 16, depending on your time zone. Here in southern california we will have quite the show. The total lunar eclipse happens when the full moon moves into the deep umbral shadow of the earth. All the direct light from the sun is cut off but the light rays of the sun will still pass through the atmosphere of the earth which is projected onto the moon, giving it the red glow we will hopefully see. This supermoon, which it is called because it is at its perigee (its closest to Earth of the month), making it a Super Blood Moon Eclipse.
